Newsweek's John Meacham Lists Tennessee As Possible Democrat Pickup

Political guru and Editor of Newsweek John Meacham appeared on MSNBC's Imus in the Morning Monday and spoke about possible Democratic pickups around the country in 2006.

When giving his analysis, Meacham listed Tennessee as a possible pick up.

Meacham:
"I'm increasingly fascinated by the midterms which I'm not always. We've talked a little bit before about not rushing the judgment based on polls but Cheney's is 18% which is in the margin of error, so 0% of the country may approve of him and Bush is in the thirties, his father got a little lower in the worst moments of the recession, but, the analogous year I think is 1986, when even really before Iran Contra and Reagan lost the senate, remember that he had won in 1980. It succeeds I think margin, and I can sort of see how this sounds tough, but it could happen, there are some really interesting high profile races, Santorum and Casey in Pennsylvania, Ford in Tennessee, is fascinating to me."

Meacham joins a growing list of political experts and pundits from all over the nation that each agree that Congressman Ford and his candidacy are for real!

62 Days

Days of Congressional Inaction on Ethics

Above is the number of days that have passed since Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to bribing Congressman.

It is also the number of days in which Congress has failed to pass an ethics reform bill that would limit private travel, ski and golf junkets, and would call for a full disclosure of expenses by lobbyists on members of Congress.

It is time for Congress to step up and pass an ethics reform bill that would do all of the above. In addition, it is time to end the pork barrel spending system as we know it and establish an independent ethics commission that would review ethics complaints against members of Congress.

I am proud Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is fighting for that reform!
