Harold Ford Jr: The Security Candidate

While his opponents are falling one by one in line to support President Bush and his ports deal with the United Arab Emirates, Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is hard at work securing America.

The Congressman's dedication to keeping America secure is evident by his recent letter on port security and his new television ad in which is states his opposition to the President's ports deal which virtually outsources our security.

Congressman Ford's record on securing our nation is unmatched.

Since the 9-11 attacks on our nation, Congressman Ford has supported over $5 trillion in funding for the Defense, Homeland Security, as well as intelligence agencies.

The Congressman has also supported every single funding and appropriations bill that has been requested by this Administration to fund the War on Terrorism.

And as his recent letter and ad shows, Congressman Ford has been a real leader on securing our ports as he has supported funding our port security efforts to the fullest amount.

His strong record on securing our nation just goes on and on! (You can read more of the Congressman's accomplishments on security and defense here!)

Tennessee needs a leader who will not back down in situations in which our nation is put at risk such as this ports deal.

Harold Ford Jr. has shown he is ready to fight for our security and that is why he will be our next U.S. Senator!

62 Days

Days of Congressional Inaction on Ethics

Above is the number of days that have passed since Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to bribing Congressman.

It is also the number of days in which Congress has failed to pass an ethics reform bill that would limit private travel, ski and golf junkets, and would call for a full disclosure of expenses by lobbyists on members of Congress.

It is time for Congress to step up and pass an ethics reform bill that would do all of the above. In addition, it is time to end the pork barrel spending system as we know it and establish an independent ethics commission that would review ethics complaints against members of Congress.

I am proud Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is fighting for that reform!
