The following letter to the editor appeared in Thursday's Commercial Appeal:Harold Ford Jr. has been a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for some time now. During his tenure, has he displayed arrogance or denial, or made claims of racial discrimination? If not, then why should his behavior be expected to be different if he is elected to the U.S. Senate (Jan. 30 letter to the editor)?
He should be judged on his public record, not upon any imagined future behavior that is based on the perceived behavior of certain members of his family. Be fair, and judge him on his own actions, not those of members of his family.
