Ray M. Fockeray Just Doesn't Get It

Poor Ray M. Fockeray. He just doesn't get it.

In a post over at Blogging for Corker, Fockeray tries to go after pro-Ford blogger Mike Kopp by insinuating Kopp is being hypocritical for calling Corker out for his accepting of PAC money.

However, what Fockeray doesn't understand is the premise behind Kopp's post. Kopp did the post to show folks how hypocritical Corker is for accepting money from PACs and lobbyists. During the Republican primary, he attacked Ed Bryant and Van Hilleary viciously for being lobbyists, however, it turns out Corker is in love with PACs and their money.

This all is a complete 180 from the Corker we knew back in 1994, who vowed not to take any PAC money. The following information comes from a post I did on this subject back in February:

Back in 1994, when pro-abortion, pro-tax increase, and pro-illegal immigration Corker first ran for the U.S. Senate, he was dead set against PACs.

In fact, he had some very harsh words for PACs during that time period:

  • ''I simply don't like PACs because they leave the impression with voters - rightly or wrongly - that important votes are exchanged for big campaign contributions,'' said Corker, a Chattanooga businessman." Source: The Memphis Commercial Appeal, July 27, 1994

  • "He [Corker] also said he will not accept money from political action committees, which have given thousands of dollars to Sasser's re-election campaigns. ''The PACs want a piece of me where the people of Tennessee want to elect me to represent them,'' Corker said." Source: Memphis Commercial Appeal, May 27, 1994

  • "Corker [He] said he would not accept money from PACs." Source: Memphis Commercial Appeal, May 19, 1994

  • "Political action committees should be eliminated completely"—Bob Corker Source: Chattanooga Free Press July 28, 1994

However, since that time Corker has started singing a very different tune and has became a close associate of political action committees.

Maybe he learned that from his old friend Governor Don Sundquist?

During the late 90's, pro-abortion, pro-tax increase, and pro-illegal immigration Corker often donated large sums of money to various PACs.

He also accepted tons of PAC money during his campaign for Mayor of Chattanooga, and has continued that trend during his current U.S. Senate race.

In fact, he has accepted almost $62 thousand of PAC money during his current bid for the U.S. Senate.

Below details the relationshp pro-abortion, pro-tax increase, and pro-illegal immigration Bob Corker has had with PACs since 1994 Senate race, where he was a strong opponent of PACs:

So as you can see, this is just another issue in which Bob Corker has done a complete 180 and has shown his hypocrisy. The guy absolutley has no character or core beliefs.

No wonder Ray tried to attack Kopp instead of addressing the real issue at hand. I guess I would too if my canididate where a fraud.
