Ford Rocks Nashville At Early Vote Rally

Yesterday, I attended the Harold Ford Jr. early vote rally in downtown Nashville. Although the temperature was scorching around 95 degrees, Ford supporters showed up in full force to show the Congressman some love!

If I had to estimate on how many people were in attendance, I would say somewhere around 200 hundred supporters were present. To me, the attendance was really good, considering the rally was held at mid day and the weather was virtually unbearable for some.

Everywhere I looked at the rally, I saw Ford signs, hats, shirts, and stickers--it really was a great sight to see!

I could tell by talking to various people who were at the rally, that folks were really starting to gear up and get out and work for the Congressman.

Case in point, one lady told me that she canvassed her neighborhood for the Congressman six hours this past Saturday afternoon! That is the type of dedication people have towards Congressman Ford and his campaign. He really has inspired the masses.

The Congressman spoke for about 20 minutes, talking about how folks are ready for change and are hungry for real leadership all across the state. He emphasized that it isn't about politics or being Democrat or Republican, but rather what works and gets results. He urged those who are fed up with all of the bickering and yelling back and forth nowadays, to vote for change.

On the political front, the Congressman used a sports metaphor to describe the current landscape of the campaign, saying that we are now at half time in the ball game. He said that all of the experts predicted that we would be down by 15 points right now, however, we are instead tied going into the second half. Ford stressed the fact that he needed everyone's help in the next 100 hundred days, to make a victory possible. (Give the Congressman your time, money, and prayers!)

Congressman Ford ended his speech as he always does by telling voters if the Republicans can be proud of and defend Dick Cheney, he knows we can be proud and stand up for him! (I love that line...it is so true)

After he got through speaking, as always, he received a thunderous applause and was mobbed by the crowd like a celebrity.

Each time I go to a Ford event, the mood and energy just seems to get better and better! The Congressman's message of change and a government that works for everyone, really is inspiring people all around this state!

Be on the watch out guys! Congressman Ford will be coming to your city soon! (Did I mention Big and Rich are Ford supporters?) When he does, be sure to go out and show him your support!

Go Ford!

Ford speaks in Chattanooga: Presumptive Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Harold Ford Jr. on Tuesday repeated a theme he has used throughout this race, saying the public is ready for a change in Washington, D.C.

“What people are really hungriest for is just leadership,” Rep. Ford told a crowd of Democrats outside the Bessie Smith Hall in Chattanooga.

Rep. Ford spoke at a Hamilton County Democratic Party rally aimed at driving voting turnout for next Thursday’s elections. Party Chairman Stuart James estimated that about 300 people were at the event.

205 Days

Days of Congressional Inaction on Ethics

Above is the number of days that have passed since Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to bribing Congressman.

It is also the number of days in which Congress has failed to pass an ethics reform bill that would limit private travel, ski and golf junkets, and would call for a full disclosure of expenses by lobbyists on members of Congress.

It is time for Congress to step up and pass an ethics reform bill that would do all of the above. In addition, it is time to end the pork barrel spending system as we know it and establish an independent ethics commission that would review ethics complaints against members of Congress.

I am proud Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is fighting for that reform!
