Congressman Ford's Comments On Confirmation Of TVA Board Nominees

Rep. Harold Ford, D-Tenn., said he was not encouraged by the partisanship of the TVA confirmation process. He said the prospective board members all support the Republican Party.

"I am worried that this new group is unfit to make the region less dependent on tradi- tional sources of energy," Rep. Ford said in a statement.

He said he is disappointed that a black or someone from Memphis never has served on the TVA board.

Rep. Ford is running for the U.S. Senate. All 14 of the current senators from the seven state TVA service area are Republicans.
