Yesterday, National Republican Campaign Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman was in Chattanooga lying and distorting my record. In addition to urging Mr. Mehlman to get his own corrupt Republican leadership in order in Washington before coming to Tennessee to lie about me, our campaign Communications Director Carol Andrews issued the following statement:"Ken Mehlman can be puzzled and angry about Harold Ford's record but he shouldn't lie about Harold Ford. The truth is Harold Ford votes for what's best for Tennessee, not what his party or some lobbyist urges him to do. From being pro family to pro business to pro middle class tax cut, Harold Ford is the kind of independent and honest thinker Tennesseans want and deserve in the U.S. Senate.
"Finally, Mr. Mehlman sounds desperate nine months out. Ken Mehlman should quit the attacking and start offering answers, like Harold Ford. Harold Ford is winning this race because people believe in him and the answers he is offering to the hard challenges of our time."
