Fox News Calls Ford A Moderate

Add Fox News to the long list of political pundits and well respected media outlets that all have recognized Congressman Harold Ford Jr. as a moderate or centrist Democrat.

In an article titled "Tennessee Primary a Telling Start for November Race", Fox News says:

"Democrats are betting that regardless of the Republican nominee, they have an excellent chance of picking up the office, and possibly, the chamber, with the likes of Rep. Harold Ford, Jr."

"Ford has positioned himself as a moderate in a state that went for President Bush in 2004. It is considered a Republican red state on the modern political map despite the fact five of the 11 congressional delegation are Democrats as is the governor."

Despite their best attempts in this race so far, the Republicans have been unable to play the "liberal card" successfully on Congressman Ford. The main reason behind their failure is simple: it is just a lie.

The fact is, Congressman Ford is a moderate Democrat who is offering real leadership in this election. He is someone who is pro-business, pro-fiscal responsibility, pro-middle class family tax cut, pro-strong defense, pro-second amendment, pro-family, and pro-God.

Put simply: he is one of us.

It is time we had a U.S. Senator who shares our values and will work for all of the people, not just a few.

As a moderate, Harold Ford Jr. will do just that and will make all Tennesseans proud in the process.

Days of Congressional Inaction on Ethics

Above is the number of days that have passed since Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to bribing Congressman.

It is also the number of days in which Congress has failed to pass an ethics reform bill that would limit private travel, ski and golf junkets, and would call for a full disclosure of expenses by lobbyists on members of Congress.

It is time for Congress to step up and pass an ethics reform bill that would do all of the above. In addition, it is time to end the pork barrel spending system as we know it and establish an independent ethics commission that would review ethics complaints against members of Congress.

I am proud Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is fighting for that reform!
