Ed Bryant Joins Van Hilleary In Liar Hall of Fame

Well guys, it appears Ed Bryant has joined fellow Republican U.S. Senate candidate in the Liar Hall of Fame.

In his first, and might I add, terribly desperate television advertisements, Ed talks of how strong he is on the terrorists and how if he becomes Senator he will fight to win the war on terror.

The only problem wrong with those assertions is that they are lies.

The truth is, Ed Bryant is weak on terrorism. Anyone who supports an amnesty proposal for terrorists who kill our brave men and women, is far from being a leader on fighting terrorism.

Ed should have told the people of Tennessee the truth and revealed that he had no problem with the Iraqi amnesty proposal in his new ad, instead of trying to portray himself as something he is not.

He should be ashamed.

All this is a stark contrast to Congressman Harold Ford Jr., who in his latest television ad came out strongly against the Iraqi amnesty proposal.

We need a leader who talks to the talk and walks the walk.

We need Harold Ford Jr. as our next U.S. Senator.

More: I also find it pathetic that Ed Bryant would try to link Congressman Harold Ford Jr. to his family in this ad. This just shows Ed cannot run on his own merits, he has to try to mislead voters to garner support.

I am confident Tennesseans will reject this kind of dishonesty this year.

186 Days

Days of Congressional Inaction on Ethics

Above is the number of days that have passed since Jack Abramoff pleaded guilty to bribing Congressman.

It is also the number of days in which Congress has failed to pass an ethics reform bill that would limit private travel, ski and golf junkets, and would call for a full disclosure of expenses by lobbyists on members of Congress.

It is time for Congress to step up and pass an ethics reform bill that would do all of the above. In addition, it is time to end the pork barrel spending system as we know it and establish an independent ethics commission that would review ethics complaints against members of Congress.

I am proud Congressman Harold Ford Jr. is fighting for that reform!
