Another Blogger Endorses Harold Ford Jr. for the U.S. Senate

It appears that there has been another blog to pop up on the blogosphere in support of Harold Ford Jr.'s candidacy for the U.S. Senate here in Tennessee.

The Wafford Weekly writes:

I choose Harold Ford, Jr's., campaign for U.S. Senate of Tennessee because of his very impressive keynote address at the 2000 Democratic National Convention. At the age of 30, Rep. Ford was the first African American to deliver the prime time speech since Barbara Jordan, Rep. TX, gave the keynote address in 1976 and again in 1992. His call for the "New Generation" to embrace the Al Gore/Joe Lieberman campaign was an appeal to young voters to cease being apathetic and get involved in the building of the future of America. What realy caught my attention was the fact that here was a young African American male with excellent oratory skills. His ability to capture an audience reminded me so much of the Late Harold Washington, who was elected as the first African American Mayor of the great city of Chicago, Illinois.

Harold Ford, Jr. was first elected to congress in 1996 at the tender age of 26 years old. He suceeded his father, Harold Ford, Sr., who also served the 9th Congressional District of Memphis for twenty two years.

Congressman Ford has decided to run for the U.S. Senate and has committed himself to the following:

  • Pass a constitutional amendment to balance the budget
  • Simplifying the tax code
  • Investment in education
  • Reduce dependence on foriegn oil by 75% in 10 years
  • Strengthening national security and emergency response strategy home/abroad
  • Never to send American to ware without a clear purpose, mission and exit plan
  • Make healthcare affordable for everyone
  • Pass campaign ethics laws
  • Give the average American equal say in governemt
  • Guaranteeing college tuition for everyone in exchange for national service to our country.

Over the next few days I will analyze and give my personal views on the commitment/s of Representative Harold Ford, Jr.

I say welcome to the ever growing Ford support community WW!

You are among an increasing majority here in the blogosphere!
