Ford Campaign Swings Through Southern-Middle Tennessee

On Thursday, my parents and I had the privilege to attend two campaign events for Congressman Harold Ford Jr.

The first event took place in Lewisburg, which is in Marshall County, at Jimmy's Deli.

The event was scheduled to be at 12:00, so the Congressman got to meet and greet the lunch time crowd.

Although it was about time to for people to grab something to eat, everyone was more interested and eager to meet Congressman Ford than they were to get some food.

As soon as the Congressman entered the deli, the energy level immediately went up. People began scurrying towards him and in an effort to meet our next U.S. Senator.

He made sure he shook hands and spoke with everyone he saw at the deli.

While talking with each individual, I could tell he was listening very deeply about their concerns.

That is one thing I really love about Congressman Ford--he really cares about and has the same respect for everyone he comes in contact with, no matter whether they are Democrat or Republican, rich or poor, or anything else. He simply has compassion for everyone.

From there, we went to Pulaski, which is located in Giles County. When the Congressman arrived in Pulaski, the first stop he made was the local courthouse.

With help from good friends Joe Henry and Tim Underwood, Congressman Ford was introduced to courthouse employees as well as citizens in the courthouse.

Each stop he made in the courthouse was very positive. Everyone was really responsive and seemed to be interested and supportive of his candidacy.

From the courthouse, the Congressman headed over to a small reception just a short distance away.

There he was greeted by a number of influential people from the surrounding area.

Congressman Ford then spoke about the issues that are most important to Tennesseans and Americans today.

He spoke out on things such as Iraq, oil dependence, and education and other key issues that face everyone each and everyday. I could tell by looking around the room as he spoke, people were in agreement with what he was saying.

His love for the issues and making government work for everyone is just glaring when you see him speaking to people.

All in all, it was a great day.

It was a great day for me personally because I got to see the Congressman once again and also introduce him to my mother for the first time.

I also think it was great day because of the response that the Congressman received each place he went. It seemed that everyone at each stop just loved him and was really supportive.

I was really encouraged by the whole day.

Congressman Ford is well on his was to a 2006 victory.
