The Right Still Bankrupt On Ideas; Issues More Attacks

As I reported a little over a week ago, it appears blogs like "Blogging For Bryant" have nothing to offer except vile attacks on Harold Ford Jr. No ideas, no real news or insight on their candidate, nothing. Just unsubstanciated and misleading attacks.

Just look at their posts today. Two more personal attacks on Harold Ford Jr. One might ask why they continue to attack Harold Ford Jr. Instead of promoting their own candidate and talking about the issues.

Well, the answer to that question is quite easy. For one thing, they have no new ideas or solutions to offer the people of Tennessee. Secondly, according to a guest poster and presumably a Ed Bryant supporter at B4B, "...attacking an opposing candidate is just a fact of life. The reason people do it is because IT WORKS." So as you can see, they make no bones about it. They do it because it is politically rewarding.

However, I think I know the main reason the right wing attacks Harold Ford Jr. so much. Fear. The right wing is admittedly afraid of Congressman Ford and his campaign.

Just have a look see for yourself:

Republicans fret over Ford's potential like no other: "Despite it all, Republicans fret over Ford's potential like no other Democrat seeking the seat being vacated by Majority Leader Bill Frist." AP, 06/12/05

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ed Bryant knows Congressman Ford can not be taken for granted: "Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ed Bryant told the Chattanooga Pachyderm Club on Monday that the GOP cannot take Democrat Harold Ford Jr. for granted. "Republicans do not have an absolute lock on this Senate seat," he said." Chattanoogan, 07/16/05

Top Ed Bryant adviser says "it's going to take a significant amount of resources to keep Senator Frist's seat from falling in Democratic hands": Sonny Scott, an adviser to Mr. Bryant, said Rep. Ford has an impressive national spotlight and will be well funded in the race. "ItÂ’ll be a huge race for Republicans," he said. "It's going to take a significant amount of resources to keep Senator FristÂ’s seat from falling in Democratic hands." Chattanooga Times Free Press, 07/25/05

Online conservative publication RedState.org says the U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee is a "very real risk of Republican loss" RedState.org, 08/31/05

Their words and actions speak for themselves. Harold Ford Jr. is truly the only candidate in this race that cares about the issues and finding real solutions to the problems that face Tennessee and the nation the most. He has clearly demonstrated that he is committed to doing what is right for Tennessee and the country. He will make us a fine U.S. Senator come 2007.
