The Harold Ford, Jr. for Tennessee campaign had another successful quarter, posting the most money raised for the first six months of 2005 by any candidate in the race and ending the quarter with almost $2 million on hand. The campaign's fundraising success clearly demonstrates the capacity to raise the $12 million needed to carry our message all across the state and win next November.During the quarter, the campaign featured our first television advertisement that ran for almost two weeks leading up to the Fourth of July commending our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and announced that former Democratic Party Executive Director Jim Hester has joined the campaign as Campaign Manager.
In addition, I am honored to have joined the campaign as Finance Chairman.
Traditionally the third quarter is the hardest of quarters to raise money as a result of summer vacations and travel, but the third quarter promises to be successful due to the excitement our campaign is generating across the state and country. Harold's travels in August will take him to more than 60 counties in Tennessee campaigning and raising money. Moreover, we will continue spending the time necessary to raise money out of state as well.
Thank you for your help this last quarter. We are excited that we have the best candidate in this race and have raised the most money since the beginning of this year. While we are well on our way to raising the money needed to win this race, we continue to need your help. If you have thoughts and ideas about raising money going forward and the campaign in general, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Charles Robert Bone (crb@fordfortennessee.com), Finance Chairman Harold Ford, Jr. for Tennessee
